Vaginal bacteriosis, also called bacterial vaginosis (BV) result when the bacteria in the vagina changes and becomes uncoordinated within the vagina. When the bacteria is in unfavorable conditions, vaginal bacteriosis can happen because of a large amount of dangerous anaerobic bacteria like mobiluncas, gardnerella vaginalis, or mycoplasma multiplying. Like in the Lactobacillus species, the harmful bacteria takes control of the healthy bacteria.
When vaginal bacteriosis occurs, females might notice a fishy odor and vaginal secretion, but when it gets worse, they could be plagued by pain and itchiness.
Good bacteria can be altered or decreased in many ways. Some of the causes are having more than one sexual partner at a time, using a vaginal cleansing product like a douche, smoking cigarettes, and using an intrauterine form of birth control. These factors typically alter the pH level inside the vagina, which creates an environment in which dangerous anaerobic bacteria like to grow.
Vaginal bacteriosis could cause some serious issues, like miscarriages during a pregnancy or early labor. If this condition gets bad enough to cause a reproductive tract or pelvic infection, the result could be PID, an increased chance of getting HIV, and more.
